Information

Astraea (アストレア) is the head of the Astraea Familia.

Appearance[]

Astraea has long walnut brown hair that is gathered together behind her head in a dignified manner, along with deep indigo eyes that are reminiscent of a sea of stars. She wears a simple kirtle and a long skirt.

Personality[]

Astraea is kind and calm. She usually maintains a peaceful expression and has never behaved aggressively towards others. Even when Ryuu exploded at her and berated her for her own problems, attributing the cause of it to mistakes made by her and the rest of the Gods, Astraea remained composed as she simply accepted all of her words.

Her character is that of a benevolent deity, since even then she expressed concern about Ryuu's condition, as she was unwilling to leave her in the rain since she could've gotten sick. She also showed to be generous and merciful by giving her some food despite the precarious situation of her own familia, as well as on other occasions when she personally attended to several wounded. She is extremely lenient to the point of being willing to forgive serious criminals under the premise that they swear not to commit any wrongdoing again, as was the case with Ted.

She is a charitable, selfless and altruistic woman who seeks to help as many people as possible at all times. Even if it means risking herself, Astraea does not hesitate, and on several occasions she ventured into the dangerous streets of Orario during the Dark Era to support civilians and adventurers alike. She also displayed great courage as she was never seen disturbed by how dangerous the situation around her was, but rather maintained a calm and comforting front for the people. In spite of it all, she remains quite humble, diminishing her own qualities while flattering others for theirs, such as Artemis.

As the Goddess of Justice, Astraea is someone both fair and kind who seeks to bring peace and prosperity to the world through her actions, not only with her kindness, but also by ending all sources of evil. Although she accepts the variety of the people of the Lower World she still expresses annoyance at certain egregious normalized customs. Seeing a slave market, Freya pointed out that she would feel disgusted due to her strong sense of justice. However, in her talk with Erebus she recognized that there is a certain type of evil necessary for the world to improve, and therefore she considers it inevitable, classifying Erebus's evil as of this kind rather than an absolute one.

Interestingly, Astraea has a unique vision of justice. While others form their own ideology as to what true, or absolute, justice is, Astraea does not believe that such a thing exists. Instead, she hopes that the different types of justice that each person possesses will be able to cooperate together to guide the world towards becoming something better. She has a rather idealistic mindset as she believes that collaboration is possible even between opposing ideologies.

As much as she values justice, Astraea understands how harsh circumstances can sometimes be and agrees with the idea of abandoning such principles if the situation demands it. Prior to the bloody massacre that Ryuu decided to carry out to take revenge for her murdered companions, Astraea considered that it was better if the young Elf left her justice, even advising her to do so herself, as she feared that otherwise she would die.

Befitting her position as a Goddess, Astraea is very sharp and perceptive, allowing her to pick out details that go unnoticed by most. While everyone saw Erebus's actions simply as an Evil God's wish for chaos, she was the only one who noticed his unusual acts and how they seemed to be an attempt to guide Orario's adventurers to the answer of what absolute justice was.

Although she doesn't show it all the time, Astraea can sometimes be a humorist, coming up with quick responses to jokes or making one herself. She can also be a little cruel from time to time, adding a smirk which further emphasizes it.

On the other hand, while her good qualities have earned her a reputation as a virtuous figure, it is not the only reputation that they have given her. Among the male Gods it has been noted that she also gives off a maternal image due to how she is a symbol of purity that stands out above the other Goddesses, and many have an intense desire to be pampered by and receive a lap pillow from her.
